Digital Archiving System is a system of software and hardware components that consists of databases, software tools that manage databases, and storage media; it is the technological infrastructure of a digital archive. It defines the scope and limit of the archive’s functions and is instrumental in achieving its aim and goals. The main purpose of digital archiving is to ensure that the invaluable content we are preserving remains unchanged and accessible long into the future through an adequate and sustainable technological framework for the digital archive.

Un sistema de archivo digital es un sistema de componentes de software y hardware que consta de bases de datos, herramientas de software que gestionan las bases de datos y medios de almacenamiento; es la infraestructura tecnológica de un archivo digital. Define el alcance y el límite de las funciones del archivo y es fundamental para lograr su finalidad y sus objetivos. El objetivo principal del archivo digital es garantizar que el contenido de valor incalculable que estamos preservando permanezca inalterado y accesible durante mucho tiempo en el futuro mediante un marco tecnológico adecuado y sostenible para el archivo digital.
